The sacrifice ability can be negated in response by either destroying Gold Effigy, removing it from the game, or causing it to lose its abilities.

You can still attack with Gold Effigy, it will just deal no damage unless buffed.

Once they are pulled from the side deck, all side deck cards behave like a normal card would.
